He went a few inches longer this time. I asked him why the extra length? He said, "It's for the big olas señor! Ah! OK. I understand. So we took his previous design and stretched it out from 5'6" to 5'9". I also went and pulled in the tail a bit, and a few other minor tweaks. I always send his boards with some colorful tints. The theme is Yellow, Blue and Red for the Colombian colors. This time around I did a half and half bottom with a blue and red tint, and the top with a solid yellow pigment. This is my new thing. I want to work with pigments and blocking out as much as possible. This gives me a nice yellow rail band on the other side acting as a frame. You can still see some of the bottom color through the rail. I'll need to add even more pigment next time. Please take note, my epoxy resin tints do not have clean cut laps. they are mostly free lap, or what I like to call a "dirty lap". It looks dirty and grungy. I am learning however, to be tight and clean with my squeegee so I don't overspread the resin at all if possible. It took me dozens of tries to figure this one out. The free lap style works good when going with a single color both sides. It blends in well and you can hardly notice the frays. There's other little improvements to the glass making it a 6/4/6 this time. This will save us headaches with dings and it will be more durable. That's what we want. Small riders usually get 4/4/4. It still came out light though and I'm happy with the result. Next step is shipping it to Colombia. God willing! 🤙
